Moora Race ClubMoora Race Club

For over 100 years the Moora Race Club has been a part of the history and heritage of Australian Horse Racing. Horses are an integral part of the social fabric of Moora and there is perhaps no other occassion which conveys the spirit and character of country Australia as the 'Call to the Post' for a group of magnificent Thoroughbreds.

Moora is only 172km from the Perth CBD.

A Brief History of the Club

The Moora Race Club was established in 1907. The Bystino Grandstand, which is still in use, was built in 1925 for 840 pounds, with seating for approximately 200 race goers. In the early years, the club had two meetings on a long weekend. Up to 60 horses would travel by rail from Midland and Perth. Many improvements have been made over the last few years to it's running rail, mounting yard and grassed areas. In early 2009 a new jockey's facility was built.

The Moora Cup is Moora Race Club's Melbourne Cup equivalent and is being held on Saturday 9 October 2010 (click here for more details).
